Yikes!

New eBay fees took effect February 20, 2008. If you are a seller, your costs may increase or decrease. It will depend on what you sell and how you list it.

Yikes! is a Web Widget that will look at a past eBay invoice, apply the new fees to it, and show you, bottom line, how the fee change will effect you.

Yikes! is in Beta test and free of charge.

Here's our privacy policy.

Instructions

  1. Click Run Yikes! to start.
  2. On the next page, tell Yikes! which eBay invoice to upload and work on.
  3. A table of summaries, with old and new fees, will be displayed.
  4. Note: If the process doesn't complete and you don't get a good reading, let me know so I can look at the problem.

  1. Fixed overestimation of new core insertion fees. This occurred when promotional insertion fees had been taken advantage of. The promotional insertions were estimated as the sum of the new full price and the old promo price. this problem did not occur for imonths/invoices when promo rates were not offered (or used).
  2. Gradual improvements to multinational handling. Try Canada and Australia.

Sunday Feb 17, 10:25pm PST

  1. Improved handling when invoices contain currency conversions. Still more to do.

Sunday Feb 17, 2:52pm PST

  1. You should rerun your data IF you ran Yikes! between Saturday 12:40am and now, AND you have store inventory AND your earlier results showed little or no reduction of store insertion fees. A bug was introduced early Saturday morning (12:40am) that overestimated new Store insertion fees, typically showing zero change from old to new. This is now fixed. this did not effect other Core insertions, nor other fees.

Saturday Feb 16, 12:40am PST

  1. Added support for Canadian invoices using Canada fees. Try it, but with caution.

Tuesday Feb 12, 2:50am PST

  1. Having success with some Canadian invoices now, those with US fee schedule.
  2. Better able to read identity-stripped files.
  3. Files with columns in the wrong order yielded zero tallies. Now a focused error message is given.
  4. Previously, tallying was terminated if a blank line was found, or a blank title field or blank fee field. Now it skips the line and continues.

Saturday Feb 9, 6:20pm PST

  1. Some files were reported with zero tallies. Fixed.
  2. Added "Sales Ratios" to the bottom of the table. Please let me know how this might be more useful.
